A quote for design services to replace a bridge over the Dry Walnut Creek is on the agenda for the next Barton County Commission meeting, set for 9 a.m. Tuesday, June 25, at the courthouse. The Commission meeting will be live-streamed through Microsoft Teams. Citizens may view the meeting through their own sign-in or by signing in “anonymously” at https://bit.ly/3KSJleF. Anyone who wishes to participate in the discussion of any item is asked to call 620-793-1800 for instructions.
County Engineer Barry McManaman reports that requests for qualifications were accepted for the design work associated with replacing Off-System Bridge No. 189. The bridge is located on NE 20 Avenue, a short distance northeast of Great Bend. Kirkham Michael was the only firm to express interest and has submitted a design agreement in the amount of $74,000.
Other items on Tuesday’s agenda are:
• A proclamation declaring June 25 to be Great Bend Bat Cats Day.
• A quote for 25,000 of diesel fuel for the Solid Waste department.
• Reappointing County Appraiser Wendy Prosser for another four years to comply with state statute.
• Continuing membership In Southwest Kansas - Great Plains Development Inc.
Following the close of the agenda meeting, the commission will continue to meet. They may consider the authorization of personnel changes for classified positions, sign any documentation approved during the agenda meeting or sign any other documentation required for regular County business. Similar action may take place throughout the day. The following appointments are tentatively scheduled:
