Both commission, council to meet Monday

The Barton County Commission and the Great Bend City Council both meet Monday, and both plan virtual meetings due to COVID-19 public gathering restrictions.

The commission will meet at 9 a.m. Monday at the Barton County Courthouse, 1400 Main in Great Bend. But the meeting will not be open to the public except via live-streaming. It will be streamed through Microsoft Teams. Citizens may view the meeting through their own sign-in or by signing in anonymously.

The agenda includes: Economic Development Revolving Loan Fund grants for Hoisington Hospitality LLC. (Rodeway Inn and Suites), Hoisington, and Industrial Services of Kansas, rural Great Bend; Kansas Health Foundation Healthy Community Initiative Health Equity Mini-Grant to the Great Bend Senior Center; and the rebuild of the Caterpillar wheel tractor compactor for the Barton County Landfill.

The council will meet at 6:30 p.m. Monday. The meeting will be open to the public for the first time in a number of weeks as COVID-19 restrictions easingb.

The agenda includes several community development block grant applications, the purchase of skid-steer loader for the Street Department, the purchase of 800 MHz radios for the police and fire departments, and a staff vehicle replacement for the Fire Department.
