Attendees of last year’s Career Technical Education Fair participate in a hands-on learning session.

Barton will host its 10th annual Career Technical Education Fair for students grades 8-12 to learn about different career options on Friday, Feb. 7, and it will feature demonstrations, hands-on activities and refreshments.

The high school students’ sessions are from 8:30-11:30 a.m., and the 8th grade students’ sessions are from noon - 2:30 p.m. For more details and to register, visit careerfair.bartonccc.edu by Jan. 24.

Those attending will register for a specific “track” of programs they’re interested in, and tour guides will help students move from one session to the next. Both the morning and afternoon sessions will conclude with a “college life” panel where students can hear from current students about their Barton experience.

Careers include Agriculture, Top Tech Ag Mechanics, Scales Technician, Commercial Driver’s License, Natural Gas, Plumbing, Construction Technology, Welding, Medical Assistant, Medical Lab Technician, Nursing, Adult Healthcare, Business, Information Technology, Marketing, Digital Communication and Content Strategy, Pharmacy Technician and Dietary Manager, Life Science, Criminal Justice, Emergency Medical Services, Dance and Movement Therapy, Early Childhood and Elementary Education, English, and Music.

Director of Early College Opportunities Karly Little said it’s helpful for students to learn about a variety of jobs so they can be career minded as they go through their educational journey and that it helps to revisit those options from year to year up through graduation.

“By getting a glimpse into these exciting career fields, we hope these hands-on sessions can help students feel a spark of interest in something they might not have known was even possible for them,” she said.”
