Barton County budget hearing is Tuesday

The Barton County Commission’s budget hearing will precede its regular business meeting on Tuesday, Aug. 15, at the temporary office location at 1500 Kansas Ave.

The budget hearing will start at 9 a.m. with regular business to follow.

Items on the agenda are the adoption of the 2024 Barton County operating budget; adoption of the 2024 authorized positions listing; capital improvement and equipment replacement plans; and approving a cost overrun on the repair of a mowing tractor.

Following the close of the agenda meeting, the commission will meet as the governing board of Fire District No. 1.

The following appointments have been scheduled for the remainder of the day:

10 a.m. - Budget hearing and agenda meeting for Fire District No. 1.

10:15 a.m. - Financial update by Matt Patzner, administrator

10:45 a.m. - Program update and budget discussion with Marissa Woodmansee, Juvenile Services director.

11 a.m. - Update to the County Bridge Weight Limit Resolution by Barry McManaman, county engineer.

11:15 a.m. - Audit Review with Jamie Benyshek, AdamsBrown.

1:30 p.m. - Mental health and incarceration costs, with Julie Kramp, executive director, The Center.

3 p.m. – Regular business discussion with county administrator Patzner.
