Golden Belt Wood Carvers will offer a five-week beginners course, starting Aug. 18.
"If you’re ever thought wood carving looked fun or just wanted to give it a try, this is the place to start," member Barry Bowers said. "The class will be held on Thursday evenings from 7-9 p.m. at the Great Bend Senior Center, 2005 Kansas Ave.
Class participants will work on two projects as they learn basic carving safety, how to use a carving knife and how to finish a carving. The cost is $25, which includes wood for both projects, a sharpened carving knife and instruction.
For more information or to reserve a spot in the class contact Bowers at his office, 620-792-5378, or his home, 793-6121, or e-mail barrybowers@att.net.
