Nazarene Church to hold car wash
The First Church of the Nazarene’s children’s ministries will hold a car wash from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 19, at the Great Bend Appliance and Furniture Store parking lot, 2301 10th St. Lunch of grilled hamburgers and hot dogs will also be available.Money raised at this fundraiser will be used for children’s camps, quizzing and other projects and activities.

BCSO works injury accidentsThe Barton County Sheriff’s Office responded to injury accidents on Monday and Wednesday.At 4:11 p.m. Monday, Luis F. Espino-Gomez, 19, of Great Bend, and Lyle T. Stickney, 53, of Ellinwood were driving south on U.S. 281 near NE 30 Road. Stickney was in a Dodge Ram and was waiting to turn east when the pickup was rear-ended by the Chevrolet Equinox driven by Espino-Gomez.Espino-Gomez was transported to Great Bend Regional Hospital with undetermined injuries. Stickney was treated and released at the scene.July 2, 2014

Damage reported from sparkler bombsThe Great Bend Police Department is investigating at least two criminal damage to property cases involving so-called sparkler bombs, made of several sparklers wrapped up together and lit.The first, at 1017 Taft St., damaged a window and a chair swing, it was reported Saturday night.Another report came at 6:58 a.m. Sunday, after someone threw a sparkler bomb at a truck at 2324 Garfield St., causing damage.June 30, 2014
