American Legion Luau features The Locals Band

courtesy photo Golden Plains Quilts of Valor will have a drawing for this red, white and blue quilt during the Quilts of Valor Ceremony at the American Legion Post 180 in Great Bend on Nov. 29. Tickets are available now by contacting Judy Burnette or Amy Schartz Mellor. The quilt will be displayed at various events now through November, and tickets will also be available at those times. Tickets are $1 each or six for $5.

The American Legion Auxiliary will hold their 13th annual Hawaiian Luau fundraiser on Saturday Aug. 3 at 1011 Kansas Ave. in Great Bend. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. with dinner at 6 p.m. Dance to the music of The Locals Band starting at 8 p.m.

Advanced tickets may be purchased at the American Legion for $20 after 6 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday. Tickets purchased at the door will be $25. 

A live auction and silent auction will be held before the dance and run until 8:30 p.m. Proceeds will go to veteran organizations and to Golden Plains Quilts of Valor, the group that makes keepsake quilts for veterans. A patriotic quilt was made by Judy Burnette that will be raffled off Nov. 29. The quilt will be displayed at the luau and raffle tickets will be available for $1 a ticket or six tickets for $5.

The winner will be picked after the Quilts of Valor presentation on Nov. 29. Ticket holds are not required to be present to win.
