The community will come together once again to honor the late Mike Boys with the 4th Annual Mike Boys Memorial Golf Tournament, scheduled for Friday, Aug. 2 at Lake Barton Golf Course. Organized by Mike’s sons, Chris and Greg Boys, alongside friend Brian Ewing, this event aims to celebrate Mike’s life and legacy while giving back to the community he cherished.

Mike Boys, a beloved local businessman known for his successful insurance career and passion for golf, tragically passed away during the COVID-19 pandemic. In his memory, his family and friends established this annual tournament to continue his spirit of giving and community support.

Over the past three years, the tournament has raised substantial funds, with all proceeds benefiting local charities. Lake Barton Golf Course and Live Like Jesus Today have each received $8,500 in donations. Lake Barton utilized the funds to enhance their facilities- men’s and ladies restrooms, outside ceiling fans and a bench, purchased a new mower, repairs to the sprinkler system, and improvements to the pond fountain and irrigation system. Meanwhile, Live Like Jesus Today has made a profound impact on the community by providing food supplies to the local food bank, schools, and at the prison; assisting individuals in need, including those transitioning from challenging situations- many times domestic abuse.

“We wanted to create something that would reflect Dad’s love for golf and his commitment to our community,” said Chris Boys. “It’s been amazing to see how this tournament has grown and how it continues to make a difference in people’s lives.”

The upcoming tournament promises a day filled with camaraderie and competitive spirit. Tee-off begins at 9 a.m. at Lake Barton Golf Course. Participants can join as a team, sponsor a hole, donate raffle items, or volunteer during the event. Exciting prizes await, including larger cash awards and raffle giveaways.

“We invite everyone to join us for a day of golfing for a good cause,” said Greg Boys. “Your support not only honors our dad’s memory but also directly impacts our community in meaningful ways.”
