Greetings from the Great Bend Public Library! September is here, which means the return of fall programming!

Starting with Thursday we have tons to do at the library like Genealogy Thursday. If you need some one-on-one genealogy help, come in on Thursdays from 11 a.m. to noon and our resident genealogy expert will be happy to help you fill out that family tree. Then at 6 p.m. bring your appetite because our resident chef Lisa is back with Delicious Dishes. Learn a delicious and easy new recipe plus get a chance to taste test it before you make it at home. After you fill up on some tasty food why not wash it down with some delicious craft beer at Dry Lake Brewing during our Ted Lasso Trivia Night? Test your football knowledge (the British kind) and see how well you know everyone’s favorite lovable coach during our multiple-choice trivia night. The winning team will win a free round of drinks and a pretty cool Ted Lasso themed prize. Sign up your team of one to four on our website now. Don’t forget to grab a fall catalog so you can keep up to date with all the upcoming trivia nights and other library events this fall.

Friday we have a throwback for our Teen Casual Game Friday. This time we will be playing Star Fox 64. Pilot your own Arwing and face off against each other in epic space battles in the Nintendo classic “Star Fox 64”, starting at 3:45 p.m. Then that evening adults can look forward to a night out at the movies. This month’s movie follows disgraced stunt man Colt Seavers who is fresh off a career-ending accident, when he is approached to track down a missing movie star. The man he used to be the stunt double for and who is starring in his ex’s latest movie that might just be her big break. To win her back he must track down the star, solve a conspiracy, and get back into the stunt business all while trying to stay alive in this action-packed comedy that pays homage to the real stars of the show, stunt doubles. For more information about this title check out our website. Doors will open at 6:45 p.m. and close at 7:15 p.m. show starts at 7 p.m.

Tuesday Baby Bounce and Early Literacy Story Time are back. Baby Bounce, which is geared toward 0-2-year-olds will be from 9:30  to 10:00 a.m., and Early Literacy, geared toward 3 to 5-year-olds, will take place from 10:30 to 11 a.m. Although our two story times are geared towards specific age groups, families may bring children of any age to the story time that fits their family and schedule best.

Wednesday is the Tween Scene. Too old for story time but not quite a teen yet? Get a chance to hang out in the Teen Spot once a week on Wednesdays. This is a time to sit back and enjoy a board game, play video games, or get to know some of our teens. Tweens can join us in the Teen Spot starting at 3:30 p.m.

Lastly, it’s another busy Thursday starting with with Genealogy Thursday. The wonderful Luna is back from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Luna, our reading companion, will continue to visit the library this fall. Come practice reading out loud and receive a free book signed by Luna herself for successfully reading ten books over the 11 weeks between Sept. 12 and Nov. 21. On the fourth Thursday of each month (Sept. 13, Oct. 24, and Nov. 24), participants may read more than one book to reach this goal! Last but not least is Adult Craft Night on Thursday evening at 6 p.m., where we will be making marble mugs.
