In April, Connie Helm and Karen Hays, former members of Beta Sigma Phi were welcomed into the Preceptor Pi Chapter. Janis Link updated everyone about the Chapter’s ongoing fruit backpack donations, the schools involved and number of students the program reaches.
Members planned the upcoming Founders Day celebration to be held on April 22. Also discussed was a Ways and Means project for the fall.
The Chapter celebrated with several moving rituals: Connie Helm and Karen Hayes joined the Chapter with the Welcome Ritual, Karen also received the Preceptor Degree, and Connie the Silver Circle Award for 25 in Beta Sigma Phi. Connie Helm and Karen Reif progressed to the Laureate Degree and Brenda Black to the Torchbearer Degree.
Brenda Black shared excerpts from the book Still Life at Eighty. Author Abigail Thomas offers quirky observations about the aging process. Following that, members discussed their own thoughts on aging.
Judy Krebaum talked about the beginning and the meaning of the American Legion Poppy Day-the Friday before Memorial Day. She closed with the moving poem In Flanders Fields.
