Library hosting Nintendo Trivia at Dry Lake

Greetings from the Great Bend Public Library! Can you believe we are already almost done with June?! Wow, how time flies when you’re having fun. Speaking of fun, we have some summer fun to offer you folks this week at the library. First off on Thursday, June 20, we have Genealogy Thursday at 11 a.m. followed by Nintendo Trivia at Dry Lake starting at 7 p.m! How well do you know everyone’s favorite red plumber? Do you know the meaning behind the three pieces of the Triforce? Grab a team or go it solo while you compete for fabulous prizes. There is still time to preregister your team at greatbendpl.info to add your team to the roster (limit of 4 per team) or show up starting at 6:30 to register your team.

Friday at 3:45 p.m. we have a special Teen Café. This time we will be having an open mic night. Be sure to sign up on our website greatbendpl.info/teens for your slot. Teens can sign up to perform a song, poetry, or maybe a stand-up routine for up to 5 minutes. Not the performing type? That’s OK, come enjoy some delicious coffee while you cheer on your fellow teens.

Saturday is the last day for our D.I.Y. BBQ Dry Rub (if supplies last that long), so be sure to make your spice mix before it’s all gone.

On Tuesday, June 25, we are back with Campfire Story Time and Fireside Tween Scene at 10:30 am, followed by Tech Tuesday at 11 am for all your personal technology needs. Wonderful Wednesdays continue this week with a special all-day Camp Half-Blood Life-Sized Clue event for all ages. We need your help to solve a mystery! The Golden Fleece has gone missing and we need to find it. Help us figure out who took it, which Olympian artifact they used, and where they stashed it. Stop by a circulation desk to get started.

Last but not least Thursday means that Luna’s back! From 10:30 am to 12 pm grab a book, sit down, and read to Luna, our pet partner reading dog. Reading time counts towards your summer reading goal, and you could win a National Geographic Kids Magazine subscription if you log the most time with Luna through the summer.
