Barton to host ‘Music Around the World’ concert

The Barton Concert Band plays at the “Autumn Arts” concert in October.

The Barton Community College Instrumental Music Department will present its annual spring concert at 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 23 in the Fine Arts Auditorium. The concert will feature instrumental music inspired by various geographical locations. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. 

This year’s experience will feature the Barton Concert Band, Jazz Ensemble and the Barton Rock Band. 

Director of Instrumental Activities Dr. Luis Palacios said the show will feature music from around the world including polka, salsa, Japanese melodies and much more. The live and virtual audience will also have the opportunity to interact with a couple of fun activities that will be included within the concert.

“We continue to search for innovative ways to bring wonderful artistic experiences to our wonderful growing community,” he said. “This concert will bring varied music from around the world to central Kansas. The entire family will enjoy this one-of-a-kind experience.” 

The concert is free and open to the public. Ushers will seat people according to social distancing guidelines and masks are recommended when attendees are not at their seat.
