Barton County had eight active COVID-19 cases and eight active quarantine or isolation orders as of 10:30 a.m. Friday, according to Barton County Public Information Officer Donna Krug.
The eight new cases since March 19 bring the total number of positive cases over the duration of the pandemic to 2,491 – 1,062 males and 1,429 females. A total of 7,007 quarantine/isolation orders have been issued.
Five of the new/active cases are people who reside in Great Bend. There was one case each in Olmitz, Pawnee Rock and rural Barton County.

Barton County Resolution 2020-05, a mask mandate for public places, remains in effect. Health officials continue to recommend infection control such as washing hands frequently and covering coughs and sneezes. Social distancing is also recommended.
Vaccinations
A drive-through COVID-19 vaccination clinic is planned for 9 a.m. to noon on Wednesday, March 31, at Brit Spaugh Park. Vehicles will enter off Williams Street and exit onto Morton Street.
As of Friday morning, 753,458 Kansans – 25.9% of the total population – have received one dose of vaccine and 388,102 people have received a second dose.
Statewide cases
Kansas Department of Health and Environment reports that as of Friday there have been 301,433 cases in Kansas, resulting in 9,679 hospitalizations and 4,891 deaths statewide. There were 506 new cases, 10 new deaths and 32 new hospitalizations reported since Wednesday, March 24.

There were no new deaths in any of these counties.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reports the United States has had nearly 30 million cases and 543,975 deaths.
