Our mission is clear – to help as many people in Great Bend as possible achieve a complete body transformation, reclaiming control over their lives and health.
Aaron Raney

Aaron Raney, owner of Iron Therapy Training, is a man on a mission.

“With 80% of the population being overweight or obese, there’s a pressing need to prioritize health and well-being,” he said. “We’ve sadly witnessed the loss of too many loved ones prematurely, and it’s time to instigate a change.”

Raney and company have been in business for three years now, recently relocating to 3124 10th in Great Bend. As their client base grew, they needed additional space, and after remodeling, the current site provides an ideal space.

The Tribune interviewed Raney to provide insights into his passion for what he and his team does and why he likes this community.

• Describe your business?

“We help busy working professionals get their life and health back by getting a complete body transformation. We provide a complete program to help them look and feel their best.”

• What is your business philosophy?

“Get your life back! Get your health back!”

• How did you wind up locating your business here?

“I decided to start my business here in Great Bend because I saw a need for a highly equipped personal training studio in our town. Recognizing that busy working professionals often neglect their health due to hectic schedules, I wanted to create a convenient space for them to prioritize their well-being.

“Great Bend lacked a dedicated fitness facility catering to the unique needs of professionals seeking efficient and effective workouts. My personal training studio aims to address this gap, providing a solution for busy individuals to get healthy and reclaim control over their bodies.”

• In what ways are you engaged with the community - contributing to charities, taking part in civic events, other sponsorships?

“I am deeply engaged with the community through various avenues, including serving as a Chamber ambassador and actively participating in chamber events. Additionally, I am a member of the Optimist Club, where I contribute to community initiatives.

“One significant commitment was my involvement with the Central Kansas Dream Center in Great Bend, where I volunteered my time to conduct free training sessions weekly. These sessions focused on teaching the girls how exercise can effectively lower stress, anxiety, and depression while boosting their overall mood.

“I take pride in sharing the story behind ‘Iron Therapy Training’ during these sessions, highlighting the therapeutic benefits of incorporating iron into fitness routines. This engagement reflects my dedication to giving back to the community and promoting both mental and physical well-being.”

• Do you feel this sort of involvement is necessary?

“Absolutely, I believe this sort of involvement is crucial. Our mission is clear – to help as many people in Great Bend as possible achieve a complete body transformation, reclaiming control over their lives and health. By actively engaging with the community and offering support, we aim to contribute significantly to the well-being and longevity of individuals in our town.”

• Getting people to shop locally is important. Supporting local businesses is vital for the thriving of our town.

“It’s crucial to keep money circulating within Great Bend, allowing for reinvestment where it’s needed most. When we choose to shop online or at big corporations outside of town, the money often leaves Great Bend without any return benefit.

“By shopping locally, we contribute to the growth and prosperity of our town, as more taxes are generated and reinvested to support essential services. It’s not just about supporting small business owners; it’s about nurturing the overall well-being and growth of Great Bend.”

• What keeps you here and what is unique/special about this community/area?

“What keeps me here is the strong sense of family and the supportive community in Great Bend. The genuine kindness and warmth of the people make this area unique and special.

“My commitment goes beyond personal reasons – I can’t quit now because there are too many people counting on us. The thought of letting down those who rely on our efforts drives me to stay, work harder, and continue contributing to the community that has become an integral part of my life.”

• How would you sell this area to others?

Great Bend is not just a town; it’s a community where you can build a fulfilling life and raise a family. The people here are incredibly supportive, always ready to lend a helping hand. The town boasts excellent schools, providing a solid foundation for the growth and development of your children.

“Beyond that, Great Bend offers ample opportunities for those who are looking to create and contribute. It’s a place where your ideas and ambitions can take root, and the community is genuinely invested in your success. In Great Bend, you’ll find a welcoming environment, abundant opportunities, and the support you need to turn your aspirations into reality.”

• Any particular story/stories you would like to share?

One important lesson I’d like to share is about knowing your self-worth. It applies not just to health and fitness but transcends into various aspects of life. Never let others dictate your value. In the realm of health, it emphasizes the importance of investing in your well-being rather than upsizing potential health issues. The principle of knowing your worth extends beyond personal health to business and other areas. In business, for instance, don’t let others determine the price you should set. Understanding and asserting your value is a powerful tool that empowers you to navigate life with confidence and purpose. It’s a mindset that can positively impact not only your health and fitness but also your overall success and fulfillment in various endeavors.
