SCOTT CITY — Wheatland Electric is once again proud to play a major role in fulfilling Christmas wishes for children in foster care through Saint Francis Ministries’ Christmas for Kids.

In addition to delivering a $1,000 Sharing Success grant to the non-for-profit organization that exists to provide healing and hope to children and families, 44 Wheatland employees and trustees sponsored 104 children for the holidays this year.

This is the eighth year in a row (since 2017) that the cooperative leadership and employees have opened their hearts to fulfill the holiday wish lists of foster children across our southwest and central Kansas service territory, including the following counties: Finney (30 children), Wichita (seven children), Greeley (six children), Scott (20 children), Hamilton (five children), Kearny (five children), and Barton (31 children).

The grant funds will be directed to assist the faith-based organization with its Christmas mission. Along with family preservation services, foster care, and adoption assistance, the regional organization also offers several residential programs that serve those with mental health and behavioral issues, adults with intellectual and development disabilities, and even survivors of human trafficking.
