Sandra Burton performs a massage on a client. Burton is the new massage therapist at Renue Salon, Spa and Fashion Boutique.

Sandra Burton has returned to her roots to offer custom massages to her clients at Renue Salon, Spa & Fashion Boutique, 1419 Main.

Burton is a licensed massage therapist with 24 years of experience and more than 750 hours of training.

A 1976 graduate of Great Bend High School, Burton integrates Swedish relaxation, trigger point therapy, targeted deep tissue and fascia lengthening “to get the most effective results. I can also enhance your massage session with heated compresses for your back, neck, eyes and feet.

“In addition, I use a top-of-the-line percussion device, more commonly known as a ‘massage gun.’ This enhances circulation and depth of touch, while breaking up connective tissue that binds the muscles. It can be used in light touch and deep-tissue applications.”

Burton said she and her new massage colleague, Ashley Fugitt, complement one another to offer whatever clients need.

“Ashley is nationally certified, which indicates that Renue chooses only highly qualified massage therapists,” Burton said. “We are a team whose priority is to satisfy our clientele.

“We both want the community to understand that massage is more than an occasional luxury,” she continued. “It is a vital part of healthcare. Regular massage can actually re-educate your brain to avoid stress patterns that cause pain.”

Burton noted that the rest of the staff also is “professional and friendly, and Renue offers an easy-going atmosphere. Everyone has been very welcoming; it is a delight to come to work.

“I also am impressed with the wide range of offerings here – from personal services to clothing and gifts.”

Burton earned her degree in organizational communication and business at Emporia State University; she worked in sales, marketing and association management.

“After years of being a stay-at-home mom, I became licensed in massage therapy and opened my own business in Austin, Texas. After working at a couple of other businesses, I decided to come home. This was the best move; I am right where I need to be.

“I am honored to be part of the Renue family and look forward to being active in the community and my church, while serving Great Bend with the gifts God has given me.”

Susan Williams, salon/spa/retail coordinator, said Burton is another talented asset for Renue customers.

“Sandra’s clients are telling us that her expertise, quality of touch and level of focus make their massage experience exceptional,” Williams said. “They are already raving about her. Sandra is a wonderful asset to our team.”

Renue, 1419 Main, offers all hair-care treatments; face creams; lotions; facials, waxing and other skin-care treatments; manicures and pedicures; nail polishes; body wraps; hot-stone and deep-tissue massages; infrared sauna; and event room.
