Great Bend Economic Development announces the launch of its 2025 “Entrepreneurial Mindset” classes, in partnership with NetWork Kansas, starting Jan. 8. This program aims to inspire Barton County residents to adopt an entrepreneurial mindset, building on the success of the IGNITE Rural Business competition and the high demand for entrepreneurial education in the community. The first class is offered free of charge and provides a valuable opportunity for prospective entrepreneurs to experience the course content and environment.

Thanks to support from NetWork Kansas, these classes will be affordable and accessible, helping to reduce barriers for aspiring entrepreneurs. NetWork Kansas, recognized for fostering entrepreneurship and economic growth, shares the mission of Great Bend Economic Development to deliver practical resources that empower individuals exploring business opportunities.

This year’s classes will be co-facilitated by Jim Correll, Executive Director of the Innovative Business Resource Center, and Kimberly Becker, an ICE House Certified facilitator and entrepreneur. Jim Correll will participate in person for the first and final sessions and join other classes via Zoom, offering expert insights and support.

Classes are scheduled from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. every Wednesday from Jan. 8 to Feb. 12, at the Great Bend Economic Development Offices inside the Great Bend Events Center. Participants will engage in dynamic discussions, watch video content, and explore thought-provoking readings from Who Owns the Ice House?, a book inspired by the story of entrepreneur Clifton Taulbert. Local entrepreneurs will also join the sessions to share firsthand insights on the rewards and challenges of entrepreneurship.

Jim Correll emphasizes that the curriculum centers on eight essential principles: Choice, Opportunity, Action, Knowledge, Wealth, Brand, Community, and Persistence. Correll went on to share that this class empowers participants to approach personal and professional challenges with a fresh perspective. Through real stories of successful entrepreneurs, we show that there’s more than one path to every destination.

The course is open to adults of all ages, whether they’re considering a new business venture, currently in business, or seeking innovative approaches to problem-solving. Registration is $100 per person and includes dinner at each session. Participants attending at least five sessions will qualify for a 50% refund.

Another upcoming opportunity is the CO.STARTERS Core program, starting March 5. This ten-session, cohort-based initiative equips entrepreneurs with insights, relationships, and tools to turn business ideas into action. CO.STARTERS Core is an ideal follow-up to the ICE House program, driving participants from idea to implementation.
