Credit Union of America, 4708 10th St., hosted this week’s Great Bend Chamber of Commerce Coffee. Afterward, members went to the Chamber office at 1125 Williams for a ribbon cutting to celebrate the re-brand of Kimberly Becker’s company, Move Your Mountain Coaching and Consulting.
Credit Union of America has been proudly serving Kansas communities for over 80 years, since it began as a credit union for teachers. Senior Branch Manager Toni Murphy told coffee attendees CUA has been in Great Bend for 50 years. It is a full-service financial institution.
“We’re a true cooperative, which means our members are owners and we’re a not-for-profit organization,” Murphy said. “This allows us to offer specialized interest rates to members and lower loan rates, higher deposit rates. It’s a place where you can keep your accounts and feel good about it, knowing that the funds here go back into the community.”
Earlier this year, CUA announced its newest location at 1800 Claflin Road in Manhattan. A location has been secured for a Hays office.
“Outside of our really good products, we love to get involved in the community,” she said, mentioning donations to United Way, grants to local educators, volunteering at the Humane Society and helping with Great Bend Alive. “Over the past few years, we’ve enjoyed participating in the Home for Holidays. We enjoyed doing the float.”
CUA (www.cuofamerica.com) is also a major sponsor of the Chamber’s annual Business Showcase, an August event that welcomes hundreds of Great Bend USD 428 teachers and staff to the start of a new school year.
