The Great Bend Chamber of Commerce staff and Ambassador’s Club hosted a ribbon-cutting at The Heritage Building. The Center for Counseling and Consultation recently finished a remodel of the Heritage Building. The Center for Counseling took the opportunity to remodel during the shutdown due to the pandemic. The new facelift of the Heritage Building included new siding, windows and doors. Staff from The Center for Counseling and Consultation - Heritage Building looked on as Billie Downum, Head of Community Based Services, cut the ribbon commemorating the event.

The Center for Counseling and Consultation was established in March 1967. It currently has approximately 80 employees and serves 1,679 individuals. Help is available 24/7 for crisis services. The Center for Counseling and Consultation along with area businesses held Mental Health Awareness Day at Jack Kilby Square, downtown Great Bend on May 25. Those involved hope to bring awareness and erase the stigma attached to mental health.
