The Golden Plains Quilts of Valor chapter based in Great Bend is part of a national grassroots community service effort that honors veterans with homemade quilts. This year, the local group presented its 900th quilt on January 27 at the American Legion Post 180 in Great Bend.

On a recent Saturday, quilters met at the post home to pick up fabric and sewing supplies for their next projects.

Inspired Living - Milton Raymer and Cindy Johnson

Milton Raymer bought his first car when he was 12 years old. It was a Model T that wasn’t in running order, but once he fixed it he drove it home. That was the start of a passion for antique cars that never ended. Four years ago, when he was 87 years old, he had 17 antique cars in storage and began to give them to his children and grandchildren.
