Kansas Highway Patrol reports a fatal crash occurred when a pickup hit a pedestrian at 11:35 p.m. Sunday on U.S. 50 in Ford County, 0.3 miles east of the U.S. 50/Wyatt Earp Junction. A 2005 Dodge Dakota driven by Heinry W. Peters, 23, from Satanta, was eastbound on the highway when it struck a dark object in the roadway. Ronald Atwell Jr., 63, from Santa Ana, California, was the pedestrian who sustained fatal injuries.
