Cougar soccer sweeps conference awards, Alves and Parente lead Barton to 2-0 start headed to confere

With their first week of the 2016 season in the books, two Barton Community College men's soccer players earned conference honors helping the Cougars get off to an 2-0 start to the season. Awarded weekly by the KJCCC, Lucas Alves was voted the conference Player of the Week while Juan Parente earned the Goalkeeper of the Week honor giving the Cougars the sweep.

Cougars pass gut check, sweep Butler in conference action

Rallying from big deficits in two of the three sets Wednesday night at the Barton Gym, the Barton Community College volleyball team swept Butler Community College 25-16, 25-22, and 26-24. The victories improve the Cougars to 2-1 in Jayhawk play and 9-3 overall while keeping Butler winless in conference play at 0-4 dropping to 4-5 on the season.

Gouveia garners KJCCC Volleyball top defensive honor

Nathalia Gouveia of the Barton Community College volleyball team was named Tuesday as the KJCCC Division I Defensive Player of the Week. Gouveia recorded double-digit digs in three of the five Cougar matches last week in earning the week two honor. Statistically averaging just 2.8 digs per set due to Barton's style and defensive rotation, the sophomore from Rio de Janiero, Brazil, added to her numbers with nine blocks to go along with solid offensive numbers.

Cougars roll to weekend sweep, remain unblemished to begin 2016 season

The Barton Community College volleyball team got its first road test of the season coming away with four wins in the Little Ceasar's Classic held over the weekend in Lamar, Colo. The Cougars began play on Friday with a dominant sweep of Trinidad State Junior College 25-14, 25-21, and 25-14 before winding up the day with a four-set come-from-behind victory over host Lamar Community College 21-25, 25-22, 25-23, and 27-25.
