WICHITA - Joseph F. Bunk, 67, passed away Feb. 28, 2015. He was born July 14, 1947, in Great Bend, to Maurice and Mary (Kaechele) Bunk of Hoisington. In 1965, Joe graduated from Hoisington High School. After serving his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, he attended Kansas State University and graduated with a master's degree in Business Administration and Accounting.
HOISINGTON - Michele Lynn Popp, 61, of Sedalia, Mo., passed away March 11, 2015, at Bothwell Regional Health Center in Sedalia, Mo. Born Aug. 11, 1953, in Great Bend, she was the daughter of Eugene A. and Bobett T. Lott Beran. On June 1, 1974, she was united in marriage to Larry D. Popp, in Odin. Her life centered around her family. She also enjoyed cooking and sewing.
ELLINWOOD - Norman John Klepper, 95, died March 11, 2015, at Ellinwood District Hospital. He was born at his home in rural Ellinwood on June 23, 1919, to John and Mae (Arnsdorf) Klepper. Norman was a lifetime resident of Ellinwood, also living in Garfield for eight years. He attended Sts. Peter & Paul Grade School and was an Ellinwood High School graduate. Michael Anthony Munsch, 58, died March 9, 2015, at Select Specialty Hospital in Wichita. Born May 17, 1956, in Russell, he was the son of Ben and Bernice (Schiable) Munsch. On Nov. 6, 1982, he married Jennifer Arnall in Great Bend. A resident of Great Bend, he was a tong operator for Tom Brown Casing Crew and a cementer for Allied Cementing. He enjoyed four-wheeling, watching WWE, and attending his sons' sporting events.

HUTCHINSON - Betty Joyce (Kerbs) Abel, 89, died March 5, at Good Samaritan Center, Hutchinson. Born Nov. 12, 1925, at Oits, she was the daughter of Leonard E. and Hannah (Brack) Kerbs. She was a member of Otis United Methodist Church and Eastern Star #104 receiving her Gold Certificate representing 50 years, and Liberal Lyons Club. Betty and Walt were owners and operators of Abel Dirt Construction Company in Liberal for over 20 years.
HUTCHINSON - Gary Linn Mundhenke, 73, died March 4, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. Born Sept. 8, 1941, in Great Bend, he was the son of Elbert and Kathleen (Porter) Mundhenke. He was a 1959 graduate of Ainsworth, NE High School and graduated from Kansas State University, with a degree in Nuclear Engineering, in 1964. William Lorin "Bill" Janssen, 65, died March 7, at his home in Great Bend. Born Nov. 28, 1949, in Beloit, he was the son of William Franklin and Treva (Peters) Janssen. On Nov. 1, 1986, he married Shirley Smither Larson in Great Bend. The long time resident of Great Bend had been a private contractor for the United States Postal Service. He enjoyed bowling, golf, softball, sporting events, and above all, he treasured his time with his grandchildren.

Born Oct. 12, 1961, in Hoisington, she was the daughter of Robert, M.D. and Bernice (Mitchell) Moore. On Sept. 12, 1981, she married Michael Kent Dickinson in Hoisington. A resident of Oklahoma City, Okla. since 1990, coming from Augusta, she was a homemaker and an x-ray technologist.
ELLINWOOD - Sherry A. Karpe, 71, formerly of Liberal, passed away on March 5, at Woodhaven Care Center in Ellinwood. Born Oct. 8, 1943, in Tulare, Calif. she was the daughter of Marvin and Elizabeth (Brownfield) Bell. On Feb. 2, 1967, she was united in marriage to Lawrence H. Karpe in Perryton, Texas. He died on Feb. 2, 2001. The couple lived in Liberal, where Sherry worked as a cook for the Golden Derrick restaurant in Liberal for many years. She enjoyed fishing and spoiling her grandchildren.
Shawn L. Adams, 47, passed away on March 6, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. Born Sept. 20, 1967, in Omaha, Neb., she was the daughter of Richard Olsen and Carol Street-Propst. She was employed at Rosewood Services as a horticulturist. As an avid gardener, she enjoyed working in the greenhouse and volunteering her time at the local Farmers Market.

AUGUSTA - Victor L. Shumate, 64, died on March 12, at Kansas Medical Center in Andover. Born Jan. 4, 1951, in El Dorado, he was the son of Paul Bennett and Isa Lou (Gale) Shumate. He was a graduate of El Dorado High School and Butler County Community College. He was a retired truck driver and care giver. Mr. Shumate served his country in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam Era.
