Born July 13, 1929, in Hays, as Dorothy Ann Hoffman, Sister Mary Lawrence was the daughter of the late Michael William and Margaret Feltis Hoffman. She entered the Dominican Sisters' Community on Aug. 15, 1946, and pronounced her first vows June 10, 1949. She celebrated 60 years of religious profession in 2009. ARNED - Debra Gayle Harbert, 51, died March 14 at her home in Larned. She was born Jan. 17, 1963, in Larned, the daughter of James Edward Sr. and Virginia Lee Woelk Smith. A longtime area resident, she was the co-owner and manager of Guy's Liquor Store. She was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church, Larned. On June 20, 1992, she married Guy Harbert in Larned. He survives.

RUSH CENTER - Dean M. Misegadis, 88, died April 21, at his home. Born on March 11, 1926, in rural Rush Center, he was the son of Louis and Caroline (Wagner) Misegadis. He was a 1944 graduate of Dodge City High School in Dodge City and attended Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa. On April 24, 1952, he married Betty Keener at Hope Lutheran Church in Rush Center. A resident of Rush Center since 1946, he was the owner of Dean's TV & Appliance in Rush Center and La Crosse. He also was a farmer.
CLAFLIN - Donald E. Cates, 67, died April 22 in rural Pawnee County. Born Oct. 8, 1946, in Cushing, Okla., he was the son of V.E. and Thelma J. (Gower) Cates. On May 29, 1965, he married Ginger Krug in Pratt. A resident of Claflin, he was owner and operator of the 94 Store in Claflin, was a pilot for Pratt Farmers Spraying Service and was a retired commercial airline pilot. He was a Barton County Commissioner.

HOISINGTON - Donald Dean Degenhardt, 72, entered into the presence of his Savior April 21 at his home, Hoisington, surrounded by his wife of nearly 50 years, his four daughters and one grandson. Don was born November 8, 1941 at home in LaCrosse, Kansas, the youngest child born to George and Anna Margaret (Meier) Degenhardt. He graduated from LaCrosse High School in 1959. He served in the Kansas National Guard from 1963 to 1969. On September 7, 1964, Don married Lyrie A. "Angel" Mead in Larned, Kansas.
PRATT - Carolee Webster, 79, died April 21, in Pratt. Born April 21, 1935, in Dodge City, she was the daughter of the late Dean and Mildred Deford. A graduate of Garden City High School, Carolee married the love of her life Jim Webster on July 17, 1952, in Clayton N.M. A devoted mother and coaches' wife, she followed her husband to Munden, Macksville, Cunningham, and Pratt where she has resided since 1973. She worked at Pratt County Hospital, Foreman Pipeline Industries, Eubank Veterinary Clinic and at the Sanders Agency in Pratt.

LARNED - Eldon A. Hays, 86, passed away April 1, at Diversicare of Larned in Larned. Born July 21, 1927, in Pittsburg, he was the son of William Anderson and Hannah Laura Daykin Hays. On May 24, 1985, he married Linda Oles in Ness City. She survives. A resident of Larned, moving from Arizona in 2006, he was a grocery store manager. He was an avid hunter and loved any type of outdoor sports.
