GREAT BEND -- Elizabeth A. "Liz" Stambaugh, 76, died Jan. 15, 2017, at Great Bend Regional Hospital, Great Bend. She was born July 4, 1940, in Barton County, the daughter of Clifford John and LaVerne Louise (Lewis) Ellis. She married Monte Gene Stambaugh March 19, 1959, at Ellinwood. A Great Bend resident since 1958, Mrs. Stambaugh worked for the Barton County Clerk's office and was a bookkeeper and worked in parts for Hugo's Repair.
HOISINGTON - Thomas Joe "Tom" Rose, Sr., 73, died Jan. 16, 2017, at Clara Barton Hospital, Hoisington. He was born Sept. 11, 1943, in Denver, Colo., the son of Harry and Ora (Reiss) Rose. Tom graduated from Burlington High School, Burlington, Iowa. He then served in the United States Army.
HOISINGTON - Glenn O'Dell Schuster, 82, a loving husband, father, and grandfather, died Jan. 14, 2017, at Clara Barton Hospital, Hoisington. He was born Feb. 8, 1935, in Hutchinson, Kansas, the son of William George and Fern Evelyn (Wyer) Schuster.
ELLINWOOD - Marie Esther (Dunekack) Isern passed away on Jan. 13, 2017, at Country Place Senior Living in Ellinwood. Marie was born on Dec. 29, 1919, the daughter of William and Meta Dunekack, of Clarence Township, western Barton County. She grew up in modest circumstances on the family farm, in a rural neighborhood composed of German farmers and centered on a country church, St. Paul's Lutheran. She had two older siblings, Wilbur and Norma, and a younger brother, Vernon, all of of whom preceded her in death.
Justin A. Debes, 68, died Jan. 14, 2017, at his Great Bend residence. He was born May 23, 1948, at Hoisington, the son of Lawrence Ernest and Mary Margaret (Lewis) Debes. He married Linda Voth Nov. 25, 2011, at Great Bend. A lifetime area resident, Mr. Debes was co-owner and operator of Gibbs Electric. He was a United States Army veteran of the Vietnam Conflict.
TIMKEN - Blanche A. Tomecek, 87, Timken, died Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2017, at Locust Grove Village, La Crosse. She was born June 29, 1929, in rural Rush Center, the daughter of Joseph and Anna (Oborny) Jecha. She was a lifelong resident of Rush County. A 1947 graduate of La Crosse High School, she was a homemaker and farm wife. After her children were raised, she was employed as a cook at the Rush County Nursing Home, La Crosse, and Great Bend Manor, Great Bend.
ELLINWOOD - Eva Mae Ramsay Gray (Sissy) died unexpectedly Monday, Jan. 9, 2017, at Via Christi St. Francis hospital in Wichita. She was born May 3, 1949 in Tulsa, Okla. She was the beloved partner of Mickiel Goracke, of Ellinwood, for the past 22 years.
Patrick J. Moos, 65, died Jan. 12, 2017, at his home in Great Bend. Born Feb. 2, 1951, at Great Bend, he was the son of Robert V. and Helen (Denney) Moos. A lifetime Great Bend resident, he worked for B. J. Titan as a treater.
Marvin Benjamin Clawson III, 46, died Jan. 11, 2017, Via Christi St. Francis Regional Medical Center in Wichita. Born July 19, 1970, at Great Bend, he was the son of Marvin Benjamin, Jr. and Juanita (Leon) Clawson. A lifetime Great Bend resident, he was a retreader for Becker Tire & Treading Retread Plant.
Judith K. Vaughn, 70, passed away at Great Bend Regional Hospital on Jan. 11, 2017. Born on Oct. 17, 1946, in Ellsworth, she was the daughter of Carles and Esther M. (Johnson) Oakley. On June 7, 1964, she married Thomas Vaughn in Great Bend. He preceded her in death on March 5, 2014. A lifetime Great Bend resident, she was a personal assistant in the health care industry.
Vicki Lynn Weber, 59, died Jan. 11, 2017, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center, Hutchinson. She was born Sept. 25, 1957, at Borger, Texas, the daughter of John and Bonnie "Maxine" (Underwood) Nicholson. She married Eugene Paul "Gene" Weber Nov. 18, 1978, at Great Bend. He died Sept. 2, 2010. A Great Bend resident since 1967, coming from Stinnett, Texas, Mrs. Weber was a secretary for Evansco, Inc., and worked in customer service for Dillon's.
Charles E. "Pete" Peterson, 89, died Jan. 7, 2017, at Cherry Village Nursing Home, Great Bend. He was born March 24, 1927, at Wichita, the son of Claude M. and Malnor Elizabeth (Coe) Peterson. He married Roberta Jean Wallis Dec. 4, 1949, at Tulsa, Okla. She died Oct. 19, 2005. A Great Bend resident since 1958, Mr. Peterson was an oilfield worker and later worked for Straub International, Great Bend Auto Supply and Parts, Inc. He was a United States Army Air Corps veteran, serving during World War II.
