Eileen Montgomery, 99, Topeka, formerly of Holyrood, KS passed away Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2016. She was born August 17, 1917, in Pierceville, Kansas, the daughter of Fred and Martha (Orf) Borger. She graduated from Pierceville High School and Halstead Hospital Nursing School with her RN.
ELLINWOOD - Glenn H. Breford, 84, passed away Nov. 12, 2016, at Ellinwood District Hospital. Born Aug. 11, 1932, in Wilson, he was the son of Herman John and Marie (Pfieffer) Breford. In 1950 he graduated from Holyrood High School. He later joined the United States Army where he served his country from 1953-1955. He married Joan Stumps together they had four children. He later married Anna Maria Erdman on Sept. 18, 1982, in Ellinwood. She passed away June 21, 2010. TOPEKA - Wayne Edward Thompson, 84, of Topeka, formerly of Otis, passed away on Nov. 9, 2016, surrounded by his family. He was born May 23, 1932, son of Carol Sherman (Spide) Thompson and Wilma Lucille (Billie) Selvage Thompson in Udall. His early life was spent in and around the Udall and Atlanta, Kan., area. He graduated from Atlanta High School, Arkansas City Junior College, and Emporia State Teacher's College. He married Arlene Booth on Oct. 10, 1954.

Duayne "Pete" Charles, 90, died July 6, 2016, at his home in Great Bend. He was born June 23, 1926 at Heizer, the son of William E. and Beta (Trauer) Charles. He was employed by Myers Water Well Service, and the Great Bend Fire Department from 1948 to 1968, earning the rank as Captain. Mr. Charles was a lifetime Great Bend resident.
Martin Arthur Morgenstern, 102, died Nov. 6, 2016, at his home in Great Bend, surrounded by many people who loved him. Born Sept. 6, 1914, on the family farm near Galatia, he was the son of Samuel and Lena (Radke) Morgenstern.
WICHITA - Dorothy Louise "Dottie" Freeman, 74, received her eternal reward on Nov. 5, 2016. Dottie spent 24 years as Director of Main Place Youth Teen Challenge Center in Kingman where she and her staff ministered to more than 600 at-risk teenaged girls. She was also a legal guardian to Ms. Ashley Chaffin.
