Kenneth Dean Likes, 82, died Feb 15 at Hospice House of Reno County, Hutchinson. Born Sept. 1, 1932,at Brownell, he was the son of William Bryan and Mary Tee (Smotherman) Likes.
Lyle J. Lang, 73, died Feb. 15, at his home in Great Bend. Born Feb. 15, 1942, in Great Bend, he was the son of Frank and Gertrude (Eckert) Lang. On Oct. 24, 1966, he married Nancy Weber in Great Bend. They later divorced. A lifetime area resident, he was a truck driver for Meadow Gold Dairy, Santa Fe Trucking and Kansas Brick and Tile.
ELLINWOOD - Frank Slade Zamarripa Jr., 45, died Feb. 13, 2015, in Ness County. He was born April 26, 1969, at Great Bend, to Frank and Gloria K. (Kincaid) Zamarripa. He married Donita Kay Morris Nov. 1, 1997, at Great Bend.
SYLVIA – Daniel B. Burgey Jr., 63, died Feb. 11, 2015, at Hospice House in Hutchinson. Born Sept. 12, 1951, he was the son of Daniel B. and Beverly Clark Burgey. On Aug. 25, 1977, he married Kathy Jo Bruer. She died Feb. 21, 2009.
HOISINGTON - Donald J. "Don" Reif, 67, died Feb. 10, 2015, at Via Christi Hospital St. Francis in Wichita.
QUINTER - James Rayford Millwee, 84, died Feb. 9, 2015, at the Gove County LTCF in Quinter. He was born Oct. 26, 1930, on a farm outside Crockett, Texas, to James Sidney and Lou Ella Morgan Millwee. He graduated from Austonio High School in 1947, then moved to Houston, Texas, and worked for the Southern Pacific Railroad for three years.
Keith A. Ingram, 70, died Feb. 7, at his home in Great Bend. Born Sept. 18, 1944, in Kinsley, he was the son of William "Joe" and Mame Mary (Dunn) Ingram. On Nov. 5, 1996, he married Rita Cartwright in Wichita Falls, Texas. A long time resident of Great Bend, also living in Ulysses, Texas, he was a roofer for LR Parsons Roofing and Washington Roofing.
LA CROSSE - Rex W. Hafenstine, 63, died Feb. 6, at his home. Born Aug. 28, 1951, in Quinter, he was the son of Walter Nelson and Mary I. (Armbruster) Hafenstine. He was a resident of La Crosse, for 24 years, moving from Hays. In 1970 he graduated from WaKeeney High School, and attended Fort Hays State University. On Dec. 15, 1990, he married Betty Horyna in La Crosse. In the 1990s, he was employed by KDWP. Later, as a driller in the oil industry, he was employed by Murfin Drilling Company for 32 years before his retirement .
HOISINGTON - Joseph Alanson "Joe" Clarke, 86, died Feb. 8, at Great Bend Health and Rehabilitation Center. Born Aug. 23, 1928, in Norton, he was the son of Laurence Benjamin and Pearl Irene (Pierce) Clarke. On July 22, 1950, he married Carol Humphrey in Jetmore. A resident of Hoisington since 1951, coming from Jetmore, he was a driller, mechanic, and truck pusher, working for various oil companies, including Peel Bros. and Allen Drilling, retiring in 1991. Phillip Myles Miller, 67, went to his forever home to be with his Lord on Feb. 5, 2015. He was born Aug. 16, 1947, in Great Bend, the son of Carlos M. and Mary E. (Downey) Miller. He graduated in 1965 from Great Bend High School and attended Fort Hays State University. ENID, Okla. - Doris "Jean" Forshee, 81, died Feb. 4 at her home in Enid, Okla. Born Aug. 9, 1933, in Alvord, Texas, she was the daughter of Baltus and Reba (Rhyne) Mosier. She grew up in Alvord, Texas, Bowie, Texas and Big Spring, Texas. She was married to John Workman, and they had three children, Datha, Dana, and Mike. On Dec. 30, 1986, she married John Forshee in Enid, Okla. She was employed for 46 years at the USAF/Civil Service. She loved music, dancing, reading, bowling, shoes, puppies, and watching her grandchildren do anything.

ELLINWOOD - Maggie Ann (Diebert) Brown, 82, died March 1, at her home in Ellinwood of pancreatic cancer. Born April 7, 1932, near Hoxie, she was the daughter of Julius Edwin and Fairy Fay (Barr) Deibert. On June 5, 1949, she married Earl Robert Brown. He died in 1997. She was a homemaker and worked as a housekeeper and as a cook at the Alcove Club.
Wanda Jo Simmons, 62, died March 1 at Great Bend Regional Hospital. Born Oct. 10, 1952 in Casper, Wyo., she was the daughter of Daisy P. Fortna. Wanda graduated high school in Lenwood, Wash., and then later joined the Army where she served six years followed by six more years in the Army Reserve. An Ellinwood resident since 1982, Wanda married husband Francis Simmons on June 21, 1983 in Ellinwood. Wanda worked at Sterling House in Hutchinson as a CMA and was an avid reader who enjoyed nature and being outdoors.
LEOTI - Frances Marie Thurston, 98, passed away on Feb. 21, at Wichita County Health Center LTCU in Leoti. Born Jan. 7, 1917, in Tribune, she was the daughter of Harold and Marjorie Hoopes Smith. On Jan. 4, 1940, she married Harry Thurston in Tribune. He passed away on Oct. 1, 1989, in Tribune, Kansas. A lifetime resident of Western Kansas, she was a homemaker and a retired Avon representative for over 32 years.
ST JOHN - Dale May, 79, died Feb. 27, at Via Christi St. Francis Regional Medical Center in Wichita. Born Feb. 12, 1936, he was the son of Carl and Flossie May. On Oct. 7, 1974, he married Judy in Macksville. He was employed by Edmiston Oil Company as a Superintendent. He enjoyed cowboying, camping, hunting, fishing, golfing, gardening, and four-wheeling.
ELLINWOOD - Betty R. Standlee, 88, died Feb. 28, at Leisure Homestead in St. John. Born Nov. 21, 1926, in Russell, she was the daughter of Carl W. and Beatrice S. (White) Kastrup. On Nov. 28, 1942, she married R. D. Standlee in Russell, He died on Dec. 31, 2007. A resident of Ellinwood since 1971, coming from Bristow, Okla., she was a homemaker.

DOWNS - Louis Joseph Brummer died Feb. 27, 2015. He was born March 18, 1924, south of Downs to Ignatz and Anna Redeker Brummer. He attended High Prairie School, south of Downs. On Aug. 8, 1950, he married Cleo Marie Boberg. He worked as an elevator manager and grain inspector with Midway Coop in Corinth and Downs.

PAWNEE ROCK - Jason Wayne Green, 33, died Feb. 26, 2015, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita. He was born Nov. 1, 1981, at Terre Haute, Indiana, the son of Buck and Sally Green. He married Brandie Bunch March 23, 2013, at Larned. A Pawnee Rock resident, he was a kitchen manager for Gambino's Pizza.
LaVerna C. Moore, 80, died Feb. 26, 2015, at the Hays Medical Center. Born April 11, 1934, in Great Bend, she was the daughter of G.F. and Christina (Cook) Ohnmacht. Originally from Olmitz, she married Walter B. Moore Jr. on Sept. 8, 1956, at Our Lady of Sorrows Basilica, Chicago, Ill. He died Oct. 17, 2002. A Great Bend resident since 1991, returning from Chicago, she was a homemaker.
SARASOTA, Fla. - Vicky Boger Trivett, 76, died on Feb. 21, 2015. Born May 17, 1938, in Ulm, Germany, she was the daughter of Fredrich and Rosa Bauder. On April 27, 1960, she married Richard Dean Boger in Columbus, Ga. The couple resided in Great Bend from 1960 to 1974, before moving to Ellinwood from 1974-2002. They owned Boger Pharmacy in Ellinwood and Boger Gift Gallery in Great Bend. On April 19, 2002, Richard passed away. On Oct. 3, 2003, Vicky married Preston Trivett. The couple resided in Sarasota, Fla.

GREAT BEND - Ramona Mae Durbin, 84, died Feb. 26, 2015 at her home in Great Bend.
ROUND ROCK, Texas - Kaye Sanders, 65, passed away Feb. 24, 2015 at Seton Medical Center Williamson in Round Rock. She recently began dialysis and died from an unknown illness.
