Custom handrails were added at the library.

We had a delicious Monday morning coffee! Shelly Brensing fixed yummy orange poppyseed bread, cinnamon rolls, fresh fruit and muffins. We also shared some with the city employees for all the work they do for us. Thank you, Shelly and city workers.

Sandy and I are excited that Gayla Meroniuk is making us a stuffed character of Bob, our main character for summer reading. “Bob” is a wonderful book of friendship and adventure by Wendy Maas. The kids will love having Bob to hold while we read.

I have been reading “A Shelter of Hope” and “Hidden in a Whisper” by Tracie Peterson on the State Library Card. These are the first two books of the series Westward Chronicles and they have featured people working at the Fred Harvey Houses along the Santa Fe Railroad. I have always been fascinated by Fred Harvey and his great restaurant enterprise and having that setting for a historical/romance series has made a great read! We also have a non-fiction book in the library, “The Harvey Girls: Women Who Opened the West” that relates information and pictures of the Harvey House years.

Last Friday we had a great time at the library with our second, First Friday Gathering. Tyler Taylor shod a horse in the backyard, Cheyenne Rice displayed her western photos, Bruce Figger entertained us with guitar and singing, the Saddle Club had great food and we topped it off with a Hay Scramble with prizes hidden in the hay for the kids! It was a great night! Thank you all for participating in our community event with about 70 people in attendance!
